How long are individual classes?Classes are 2 hours each and there is one class per week. If you're interested in courses with different length classes and/or more sessions per week, please contact us to let us know. We always strive to make changes based on your needs.
-
How many classes are there per course? The number of classes per course depends on the length of the program. However, as a rule of thumb, the multi-week programs have one 2-hour class per week and the spring/summer break camps are 5 days long (Monday to Friday).
-
How many students are there per course? We allow up to 30 students per course. Furthermore, we aspire to having a student to educator ratio of 15:1 or better. However, due to labour shortages we cannot always meet this goal.
-
What if I can't make it to a class? If classes are cancelled due to bad weather, we will reschedule the class at a later date. There are no refunds for classes missed due to personal reasons.

Why are grade levels mixed for Athletic Math courses? After reviewing the the BC Math curriculum, we have paired grade levels that have a high degree of skill overlap. We believe that children in both the upper and lower grade levels will benefit from this pairing. Students in the upper grade level have a chance to review concepts they may have forgotten before learning new material, and students in the lower grade level will have access to higher level peers who can support their learning. Furthermore, we believe all students have the capability to learn above their current grade level. In other countries, many elementary-level students are learning concepts that are not taught in Canada until secondary school. At Athletic Math we are closing the learning gap between our students and students learning abroad.
-
Can my child enroll in a course above their current grade level?YES! We believe that all students have the capability to learn above their current grade level. However, in order to ensure that your child will be successful in a higher level course, they will be required to complete a short test to show that their abilities meet the expectations of their current grade level. If their current abilities do not meet or exceed their current grade level, a different course will be recommended for your child.
-
Can my child enroll in a course below their current grade level?YES! Regularly reviewing math concepts at or below your grade level can be a great way to refresh and reinforce math concepts.
-
Where can I find Athletic Math's Code of Conduct? The code of conduct has been uploaded to this post as a PDF.
-
Are there any reasons why my child might be removed from an Athletic Math course?Your child may be removed from a course if they are regularly being disruptive or disrespectful and have received numerous warnings. Your child will also be removed from courses for fighting or if they are being aggressive to others. Athletic Math maintains this policy because learning through sports must be safe for all participants and free from unnecessary distractions. See code of conduct for more details.

How does Athletic Math's Guarantee work? (click me)By the end of our 6-Week Athletic Math Challenge, if your child improves their math learning by at least 20% then we will return ALL your money! On the other hand, if you believe you didn't get your money's worth from our 6-week program, then you will get ALL your money back. Why Does This Challenge Work? Paying the deposit is like betting on yourself that you'll get better at math. It also provides an incentive to show up to every class and work hard. You earn all your money back when you succeed! How Does This Challenge Benefit Athletic Math? We will return your money whether you succeed or whether you think the program doesn't provide enough value. If you love our program, all we ask for in return is a testimonial about why you and your child loved Athletic Math. If our program doesn't meet your expectations, then we will return your money and ask for feedback about how we can better meet your needs. No matter what happens, Athletic Math will continue to get better and improve the experience for our learners! How is Your Child's Math Progress Measured? Your child's math learning baseline is determined by giving them a math quiz on the second week of the course. Then during the last week of the course, your child will be given an equivalent math quiz and their improvement will be determined based on a comparison between their baseline grade and their final grade. If their math improvement is at least a 20% increase, you are eligible for a refund under our guarantee policy.

What if I need to unenroll from a class? Will I get a refund? If your child needs to be removed from a class for any reason, your payment will be pro-rated and refunded according to the number of classes remaining at the time of unenrollment. For example, if your child attended 2 weeks of classes during an 9-week program and then there was a family emergency that required your child to unenroll, your refund will be pro-rated according to the formula: Refund = (Course Price) x (Number of Classes Remaining)÷(Total Number of Classes in Program) Below is an example where $400 was paid for a 9-week program and the child needed to unenroll after 3 classes. Refund = $400 x 6 ÷ 9 Refund = $300
-
Will I get a refund if I miss a class? We do not offer refunds for missed classes. However, classes may be cancelled due to bad weather or other circumstances. If a class is cancelled, it will be rescheduled at the next available date.
